The Lanes' Tradition - A Fine Nova Scotia Inn!
Built in 1798, Lane’s Privateer Inn was once the home of one of Nova Scotia’s most famous privateers, Captain Joseph Barss, and has been a dining tradition in the town of Liverpool, Queens County, Nova Scotia since 1962.
Owned and continuously operated by the Lane family, Lane’s is one of Nova Scotia finest inns and prides itself on excellent cuisine - meticulously and beautifully prepared using fresh, local ingredients and presented in a warm atmosphere of charm and genuine hospitality. Dining at Lane's is a "Taste of Nova Scotia".
The Main Dining Room features several original pieces by renowned N.S. artists. We like to describe the Dining Room as casual fine dining. On either side of the main room are Snug Harbour Books and Gourmet Shops. We also offer seating in the shops. Perfect for a cozy dinner or afternoon tea.

If you’re looking for a casual atmosphere in which to meet friends or relax after a long day of meetings or sightseeing, seek out The Captain Barss Pub. The full dining room menu is offered as well as a selection of pub fare. Enjoy a mug of Privateer's Porter (our own special brew)by the fire or a romantic dinner on the Stone Patio over looking the Mersey River.

Snug Harbour Books and Gourmet Shops
These two small shops are located just off the main dining room. Here you can sit, sip and relax within the shops themselves. Choose a spot in front of a snug fire, partaking in one of the many enticing, rich chocolate delights while lost in a 'great read'. The book shop contains one of the most extensive, eclectic selections on the South Shore.
